THE COALITION OF UNIONS REPRESENTING 4,500 WORKERS AT THE AMERICAN RED CROSS REACHED A TENTATIVE NATIONAL AGREEMENT LATE IN THE EVENING OF AUGUST 30TH

THE MEMBERS THAT TRAVELED ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO REPRESENT THEIR LOCALS AT THE BARGAINING SESSIONS AND THE SOLIDARITY DEMONSTRATED BY THE THOUSANDS OF UNION MEMBERS THAT SHARED PHOTOS AND WORE BUTTONS MADE THE DIFFERENCE IN WINNING THIS AGREEMENT.

WE WERE SUCCESSFUL IN NOT ALLOWING AND TAKE AWAYS, AND WE MADE SOME IMPORTANT NATIONAL GAINS, INCLUDING:

ACROSS THE BOARD WAGE INCREASES OF 8% OVER THREE YEARS

NO INCREASE IN THE OUT OF POCKET MAXIMUMS OR DEDUCTIBLES; IMPROVEMENTS TO LIFE INSURANCE AND SHORT TERM DISABILITY; LIMITS TO THE SHARE OF PREMIUMS PAID BY EMPLOYEES.

STANDARD-SETTING HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTECTION FOR MEMBERS

AN AGREEMENT FROM THE RED CROSS TO ENGAGE IN A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS WITH US NATIONALLY TO ADDRESS KEY ISSUES LIKE GUARNTEED HOURS AND LATE END TIMES AT FIXED SITES

MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW

CWA, IBEW AND VERIZON HAVE REACHED AN AGREEMENT IN PRINCIPAL TO EXTEND THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS FOR A FOUR YEAR PERIOD. THE CURRENT AGREEMENTS ARE SET TO EXPIRE ON AUGUST 3RD 2019. IF FINALIZED THE AGREEMENTS WILL EXTEND THROUGH AUGUST 5TH 2023. THE COMPANY AND THE UNIONS ARE DOCUMENTING THE UNDERSTANDING IN SIGNED CONTRACTS AND EXPECT TO HAVE THAT COMPLETED THIS WEEK, AT WHICH TIME WE WILL COMMUNICATE FURTHER DETAILS.

THE CONTRACTS ARE SUBJECT TO RATIFICATION BY THE MEMBERS. WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED

VERIZON UNIT MEMBERS

FROM DENNIS TRAINOR VICE PRESIDENT - DISTRICT ONE

AS YOU KNOW, OUR CURRENT COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH VERIZON DOES NOT EXPIRE UNTIL AUGUST, 2019, A LITTLE LESS THAN 15 MONTHS FROM NOW.

HOWEVER, VERIZON, CWA AND IBEW ARE JOINTLY ANNOUNCING TODAY THAT WE WILL BE ENTERING INTO TWO WEEKS OF BARGAINING ON JUNE 18TH 2018 TO DETERMINE WHETHER IT IS POSSIBLE TO AGREE ON THE TERMS OF A CONTRACT EXTENSION.

THIS DEVELOPMENT REFLECTS AN IMPROVED RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMPANY SINCE THE CONCLUSION OF OUR STRIKE JUST ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS.

Bargaining update
Jul 04, 2018
As you already know, CWA, IBEW and Verizon began meeting for a two-week period to attempt to negotiate the terms of a possible extension to the collective bargaining agreements that are set to expire in August 2019. We have agreed with the Company to extend the negotiations for a few additional days after the holiday. Meetings are expected to resume in the middle of next week.
